Webpage: New Uses for Old Things

I just cleaned out/reorganized my websites that I have saved in my Favorites, and I forgot that I had saved the following webpage: http://www.realsimple.com/new-uses-for-old-things/new-uses-kids/print-index.html to post on here as Tips for This and That. --There are lots of neat ideas like using rubberbands as an Easter egg decorator (I'm sure my kids would love that one), and I even learned a few things -  Who knew that you could use Lemonade packets to clean out the lime deposits and iron stains in your dishwasher or that you could freeze stuck on gum with a ziploc bag full of ice??

A tip for This and That

The other day, I ran across this blog: http://www.meckmom.com/ that has a lot of great ideas for organizing different things in your home.  I really thought her idea for organizing hair accessories was great.  I don't have that many accessories yet, but I'm sure in a few years I will have more, and this seems like a wonderful way to store all of those headbands, bows, barrettes, and more.  The few bows that I do currently have are just thrown in a wicker basket and stored under the cabinet, so I always have to dig around and find what I am looking for. It's worth a try!!!

Tuesday's Tip for This and That

I'm sure you all periodically like to go through your closets and try to declutter it some and this includes clearing out some clothes.  But if you are like me, you never really clear out very much space because you always think "Oh, I like this shirt." or "I might wear this again!!".  So here's a tip to help you decide what clothing to get rid of: (I read this tip in a magazine once and it has helped me out!!)

Start with all of your hangers hanging the same direction (as in- facing towards the back of the closet). Then after you wear the item and wash it, when you hang it up turn the hanger the opposite way (facing towards you).  So now you know that you have worn it.  Then, when you are ready to clear out your clothing some, you will be able to know what shirt, dress, pants, etc. that you haven't worn in awhile.  This may make it a little bit easier to part with that item if you know you didn't wear it once during the whole summer or winter!!!

Tuesday's Tip for This and That

I had my sister-in-law send me a tip that she thought I might want to post on the blog. I hadn't even thought of posting tips, what a great idea!! So, I have decided to try to post a new tip every Tuesday, and thought I would get creative and give it the name: Tuesday's Tip for This and That!!! So, this first tip comes from my sister-in-law:

"When my kids eat soup they make a mess trying to sip from a spoon. So I just stick a flexible straw in their bowls and this way they can sip with ease. I always cut some of the length off of the straw making it easier to manage."

What a great idea, huh? I will have to give this a try the next time my kids have soup!! Anything that makes less of a mess is great!! Thanks Melody for the tip.

Like I said, I would like to do a tip every Tuesday, but of course I myself probably can not come up with enough to do one every week, so I need your help!!
