Pinterest Crafts

I have been wanting to do a post on the crafts I have made since I discovered Pinterest last year. If you have never heard of Pinterest you should check it out. It is a great website for finding crafts, recipes, gift ideas, and much much more. I LOVE IT!! You can check out my Pinterest boards - http://pinterest.com/hoofa/

The following pictures are the ones I did - the link that I have posted is the link to the pin on pinterest that gave me the idea to do that craft!!

I got the idea for the next craft from a pin for a Thanksgiving banner, but I wanted to make a Halloween one. I thought it turned out cute. Now this year I want to find something to make to go on top of my book shelf, I'm thinking maybe these Pumpkin Terra Cotta Pots.

We don't have a fireplace mantle in our home, so I have always just hung our stockings on the wall with thumbtacks (pretty tacky, huh?). So, I had my husband help me make this cute sign to hang our stockings on. I loved it!!

I came up with this one, but I am going to change the letters to white when I get it out again this next Valentine's Day!!
I should have used black letters, since you can't really see the green ones!!

Birthday Banner that I decided to make

I came up up with this net idea after I saw something similar in a magazine. These were made by just using the frame and glass, and gluing the glass to the frame, and then adding a picture hanger hook on the frame. I forgot to take a picture of the ones I made for my mom for Christmas - but I put the letters on scrapbook paper instead and used it as you would a typical picture frame - either hang up or set on a table.

Sharing time Lesson for Valentine's Day

Jr. Primary
Give the following clues:
1. We cannot see it.
2. We can feel it, but not with our hands.
3. We will never run out of it.
4. It makes us happy.
5. It makes us want to do things for others.
6. It makes us want to choose the right.
See if children can guess what it is: If not, then give the hint Jesus said _____ everyone!!
Answer is LOVE

Have children find the hearts that are hidden in the room:
1. Tell what you love about a family member.
2. Tell the story of the Good Samaritan
3. Tell how you can show love to your bishop.
4. Tell how you can show love to your teachers at church.
5. Tell how you can show love to those different than you.
6. Tell how you can show love for a family member.

Cut out a large red heart and stick to floor. Have several primary children stand on the heart one at a time. Have the other children say what they love about the person on the heart.Jesus said we must love everyone. How can we love everyone? In the week leading up to Valentine’s Day what can we do for others to show that we love them?
Who loves us no matter who we are or what we do? (Heavenly Father)
How did Heavenly Father show his love for us? (May have to help children understand that He sent his son to atone for our sins.) Share the bookmark with the scripture John 3:16

Sr. Primary
Ask the trivia question: How many times does the word “heart” appear in all of our standard works. (1006 times) Have everyone make a quess and the one who comes closest gets a small bag of hearts. (Side Note: the word “Love” appears 368 times).

Give the children the page numbers and have them search that page for a scripture with the word heart. The first one to find it, reads it, and gets a candy heart.
